The past year and a half were full of so many hectic events. Many of us probably had an alien invasion on our 2020 bingo cards as well, because why not at that point. Maybe now you can cross it off?
Visitors is a refinement of my Dimensions project that falls into the found-footage genre. It delves into digital reality and the basics of CGI.
The initial idea behind it was mass hysteria; however, that concept evolved into the exploration of viral media. This piece is an example of an outrageous viral video that most people would scoff at, however as it usually is, it would start a heated online discussion. In the end, it doesn't matter whether or not the videos are genuine because people will go back and forth about them regardless (while possibly switching to another topic entirely in the process and having endless tangents). With everything currently going on in the world, we've witnessed plenty of proof of that. This video, in a way, represents a satiric take on social media and discussions on them.
I used the combination of Maya software to insert my objects into a real scene and the Adobe Premiere Pro for editing in the handheld effects to get my outcomes, focusing on achieving a seemingly real video or at least leaning towards realism.
